Polylactic Acid

PLA

A crisp, plant-derived filament used for detailed decor, toys, display pieces, and most everyday prints.

Best for

  • Sharp surface detail
  • Low warp risk
  • Wide color range

Tradeoffs

  • Not ideal for hot cars
  • Less impact resistant than PETG

Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol

PETG

A durable, slightly flexible material for functional prints like holders, organizers, and parts that need toughness.

Best for

  • Good impact resistance
  • Better heat tolerance
  • Water resistant

Tradeoffs

  • Softer fine details than PLA
  • Can show light stringing

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

ABS

A tougher engineering plastic for heat-resistant parts, usually reserved for use cases that justify its print complexity.

Best for

  • High heat tolerance
  • Good toughness
  • Can be post-processed

Tradeoffs

  • Higher warp risk
  • Needs controlled printing conditions

Thermoplastic Polyurethane

TPU

A flexible material for grips, bumpers, feet, soft protectors, and prints that need bend instead of stiffness.

Best for

  • Flexible and resilient
  • Excellent grip
  • Impact absorbing

Tradeoffs

  • Slower print times
  • Not suited to crisp rigid details
