Inside the Studio: Our Printing Setup
A look at the printer, filament brands, and workflow that goes into every Layera piece — from digital model to your doorstep.
We print exclusively on the Bambu Lab A1. It's fast, reliable, and consistent — qualities that matter a lot when you're making things for other people. A failed print at 3am isn't just frustrating, it's a delayed order.
Our primary materials are PLA and PETG. PLA gives us the sharpest detail and cleanest surface finish, so it's the go-to for decorative pieces. PETG is tougher and handles everyday use better — that's what we use for phone holders and anything structural.
Every print runs at 0.2mm layer height. It's the sweet spot between detail and print time. We slice in Bambu Studio and use custom profiles we've tuned over dozens of test prints.
Quality control is manual. Every piece gets inspected before it's packaged — we check for layer consistency, dimensional accuracy, and surface quality. Anything that doesn't meet the standard gets reprinted, not shipped.
The workflow from model to packaged product takes anywhere from 4 to 14 hours depending on the piece. Larger decorative items and multi-part assemblies take the longest. We plan prints the night before and usually pack in the morning.
